Sonic Menu Hacks and Secret Menu Items!

The Sonic Menu has classics we know and love — but if you’re a frequent customer at Sonic you will be interested in seeing these awesome Menu Hacks for even more, plus see below for all of the latest Sonic offers. Sonic Drive-In has been around for a long time, and they offer a great selection of drinks, treats, and full menu items. On holidays and during the warmer months — usually when school is out– we see a lot of promotions for Sonic Menu items.

Follow Consumer Queen Hot Deals FB group for the latest money-saving Sonic Deals… you won’t be sorry! I love it when 50¢ Corn Dogs All Day comes up, or half priced slushes.

In addition to deals, however, you can actually “hack” the Sonic Menu to get more variety! Sometimes when the kids want to go on a Sonic Run but I’m just not feeling like a regular Sonic Menu drink, I try to get creative and add fruit or something to my beverage. It’s hard to think of ways to change up my order, off the top of my head, though!

***It’s important to note, not all Sonic’s are owned by the same corporation– they are franchised. So even if you can do one of these hacks at your regular Sonic location, you may not be able to at another location. Also, with supply chain difficulties and staffing shortages, some restaurants may be having a hard time with menu items! Please be a good customer and be understanding if your location is not able to accommodate special orders! ***

Please be respectful and kind to wait staff if they aren’t able to put in a special order. And, remember to tip appropriately if they are going out of the way to make something off-menu! 🙂

Hack #1: Any drink on the menu can be made into a slushie. You can also order a slushie with no favoring and add your own from home.

Hack #2: Order a cup of ice and then order a small drink with no ice, you get a little more for your money.

Hack #3: The cheese that goes on a cheese tots and the cheese that goes on chili cheese tots are 2 different cheeses. The Chili cheese gets shredded cheese but the regular cheese tots gets square American cheese. Ask for shredded cheese on your Cheese Tots for a yummy change!

Hack #4: Ask your sonic if you can buy their chili by the bag. Prices may change but it’s roughly around $9.

Hack #5: Many locations don’t have these on the menu but they will let you order a frito chili pie, frito chili pie wrap or a BLT.

Hack #6: Secret Menu Item: Extreme Tots: Chili cheese tater tots with jalapenos, grilled onions and ranch dressing. YOU’RE WELCOME!

Hack #7: You can get your popcorn chicken or chicken strips tossed in any of their wings sauces, you just have to ask for it.

Consumer Queen team note: We recently ended up with Popcorn Chicken w/ Buffalo sauce as they were out of their regular wings (random, but we went with it!). It was delicious!!

Hack #8: Onions Rings are handmade every morning! So get them fresh in the morning.

Hack #9: Items that are never pre-made: Mozzarella Sticks and Cheddar peppers (should always be fresh)!

Hack #10: Breakfast can be ordered all day long.

Hack #11: Order a Ham Egg Cheese Toaster without egg you’ll get a Ham & Cheese Sandwich!

Hack #12: Milkshakes are usually 1/2 price during the Summer! Ours has this promotion after 8 pm, and now and then will have deals on ice cream treats too!

Hack #13: Secret Menu Item: The Ring Leader – Bacon Cheeseburger with grilled onions and onion rings.

Hack #14: Sonic Sauces are FREE and you can ask for as many as you like.

Hack #15: You should always get a MINT in your bag. It’s part of the Sonic motto.

Hack #16: Secret Menu Item: Hickory Burger -Regular burger with Hickory Smoked Sauce and an Onion ring.

Hack#17: The difference between a Blast and a shake is…. A shake is anything that can you can drink through a straw.

It’s made with regular shake mix but a Sonic Blast is made with pure hard ice cream and regular harder candy. So for example if you can’t crumble it, it can’t be put in a shake.

Hack #18: Secret Menu Item: Sonic Sunrise – Orange juice, sprite, strawberry and lime or you can just do 1/2 cherry limeade and 1/2 orange juice. **Fresh fruits vary widely, on availability**

Hack #19: Blue Coconut and Ocean Water are the same thing they just call it Ocean water. Ocean water drink is a Blue Coconut + Sprite.

Hack #20: Secret Menu Item: Hot Ham & Cheese – Order a Grilled Cheese with ham.

Hack #21: You can add taters tots onto a Jr Burrito free of charge.

Hack #22: Secret Menu Item: Java Chiller – just ask for a chocolate shake made with hard ice cream and add coffee.

Hack #23: Secret Menu Item: Pink Flamingo – Sprite, Pineapple, orange and Cherry. –This is one of our favorites! You can also try the Pink Lady, which is Sprite + Cherry Juice, and Vanilla Cream!

Hack #24: You can get a free route 44 soft drink if you fill out the survey found on the bottom of your receipt.

Hack #24: Secret Menu Item: You CAN still order Pickle-O’s even though they aren’t on the menu!

Hack #25: Secret Menu Item: Sweet Tart Slush – Sprite with a shot of Powerade, lemonade and cranberry.

Hack #26: Secret Menu Item: Extreme Popcorn Chicken – Popcorn Chicken with chili and cheese on it.

Hack #27: YES you CAN order a Dr Pepper Float!

Hack #28: Secret Menu Item: The Heart Attack – Large Chili Cheese tots with 5 chicken strips on top. Add bacon, ranch and jalapenos.

Hack #29: Secret Menu Item: Sunrise Smoothie – Ask for an Orange Cream Slush, blended with fresh strawberry and banana! Your location may vary on which fruits are available fresh.

Hack #30: Ask for French Fry Sauce – supposedly it’s the BOMB!

Hack #31: Secret Menu Item: Vanilla Cream Dr pepper: Dr Pepper Float with no ice cream added.

Hack #32: Ask for any cone topped with your favorite candy!
